Magnolia Plantation

I think my hopes are too high that people are going to get it right.  We headed to Magnolia after breakfast, thinking on a Monday it wouldn't be busy.  Nope - packed.  And they only way to get tickets for their house and "Slavery to Freedom" tour is to buy them same day, which meant that the tours were three hours from when we arrived.  So we paid $58 to walk around the gardens.

And I get it - most of what is out there is historical about the owners because that is all they have glorified for 150 years.  But it is 2022 - you can do more with my $58.  You can erect some additional markers that talk about the people whose blood and broken bodies made that place - the enslaved.  Maybe that doesn't make money, but it would be right.

We did see a couple of alligators.
