Off to The Hamptons!

Finished up work, now off for a long weekend in Bougie Town.

OK, so turns out getting to the Hamptons is a huge pain in the ass.

  • Walk/Uber to Penn Station
  • Train to Mineola
  • Uber to Mineola Enterprise Rent-a-Car
  • Drive to the Hamptons

But we made it.   Our VRBO is…odd.   It’s literally someone’s home/cottage.  So it’s not like other VRBOs where everything is locked up or not lived in.  And it’s a weird combo of very expensive shit that is cobbled together and lacking in a lot of style.  Here are the pros/cons so far.

Pros:

  • Beds:  full size (small for us, but there are two rooms so whatever) but SO COMFY.  They are those adjustable beds that also vibrate.  This is a flash forward to elderly life, but who gives a shit, they are like a cloud.
  • Full kitchen:  really nice, new appliances and everything you could want.
  • Bathroom: newly remodeled, beautiful, has one of those overhead rain showers.

Cons:

  • Washer/dryer:  They are in the cellar.  Accessed from outside in the back.  Like, full on “Halloween” go outside to do your laundry and get murdered vibe.  But they are huge units and fully stocked and the cellar is cleaner than our garage, so after the creepy effect, it’s just fine.
  • Bathroom:  It has one of those possessed toilets that opens when you walks by, sprays a mist in the bowl (I don’t get why) before you go, has a bidet, AND a butt air warmer (which is so gross I want to vomit).  It seems like a waste of electricity and water if you ask me.
  • Bathroom:  I don’t know if everyone can see in the window in the shower.  I have given up caring and just going with it.  If someone wants to see my boobs, let them.

But it is clean, and convenient, and only a 10 minute walk to the little harbor and beach for sunsets.  And honestly the views out to the water from the backyard are wonderful.  RECOMMEND!
