Not only did we get some good sights of the Flatiron building, but the beer (well...some of it...) and the food was fantastic. Huge thanks to KB for recommending!!
Eataly itself is like the biggest version of the Midtown Market that you've ever seen. Fishmonger, deli, breads, ice creams, desserts, fresh pasta, jars and jars of sauces, waters, you name it...it went on and one. And horrifyingly overwhelming to be honest. I mean, if you know: (1) what you want, (2) where that counter is, I mean it would be unbelievable to pick up fresh food every day. But my God...not as a tourist. I wanted to just cover my head and scream. It's owned by Mario Batali.
We wove through Eataly and made our way up to the rooftop restaurant, Birreria, where they have one of those retractable roofs. They brew a few of their own beers, have like every Dogfish Head they make, and sausages and cheese and general awesome-y food.
Primavera is the name of their beer there, and Chris and I had two each of the Belgian Strong Ales - YUMMY!!! Patrick got the Witbier which tasted like a scented candle dipped in herbs. Not a fan. Kate had the Two Roads No Limits hefe weizen...eh. It was OK. But since they had Chris's hefe the night before, it paled miserably in comparison.
We then shared the asparagus salad, which CBD will be helping me deconstruct and make when we get home, a cheese plate, and the salumi plate. Yow. YOW! Amazing food certainly does make you happy.
