So today, for the first time in 25+ years, I flew to New York WITHOUT taking my flying-anxiety pills. I had a long meditation from 3:30 - 4:00 am (yes, that is correct), and then had three (of the worst tasting) mimosas in quick succession on the plane.
Upgraded to first class, and the only seats left were 3A and 3F - not next to each other. So I asked the guy if they would trade seats with us because "I'm not a good flyer." He basically looked at me like I was a fucking lunatic. But God bless Minnesota passive-aggressive nice...he did it.
Then we took the car ride to New Jersey to K&P's. Wow, was that interesting. He pointed out various sights along the way, and regaled us with tales of how Staten Island is wanted by New Jersey, but New York won't give it up.
We arrived at K&P's and hung out all day with them and the kids - such a beautiful day! Walked to this great little pizza joint, then came back and had a few drinks and played games with the girls. Good day.
(Except for Chris's cracked tooth that had a root canal on Tuesday and a temporary crown put on Wednesday and it really hurt so we had to all Larry and now he has good drugs so pray that we are good. You know, he really doesn't ever complain about stuff like this, so I know it is bad when he does.)
Tomorrow - New York City!
