Two Words: West. Veleteren.

Westvleteren is widely known by many as the best beer in the world. Brewed in Belgium, RateBeer voted the Westvleteren 12 as THE best beer.

Chris and I are sharing the bottle of Westvleteren 8 right now - we bought it last night at that sweet beer store.

Side note - I can smell pot through my window from the coffeeshop on the street below.

But I am distracted...the Westvleteren 8 is really, really awesome. With the beautiful cheese we bought, and even with the shitty Wasa crackers (sorry AB at work, they still suck on a different continent), it is really, really fantastic.

Chris is opening the Westvleteren 12 right now...will it be as good as they say? Will it measure up? Will I be able to drink another beer again and feel the same way?

Answers? I think it is as good as they say - malty sweet, super smooth, dark fruit and mollassas, and boozy. It totally measured up. But I will be able to drink another beer again and feel the same way.

Quote from Chris: "I mean, it's really good, but I don't know why people go apeshit over it." Well, there you go.

Tomorrow = Anne Frank House, Flower Market, and more beer. Fabulous.
